Mandate of the Division:

  1. Coordinate Training on Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) for Medical /Para-Medical officials i.e Medical Officers/Biologists, Filaria inspectors/ Technicians Working in NFCP units & Urban Malaria Scheme (UMS).
  1. Carrying out operational research & training to support National for elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis.
  1. Services to Public through weekly Night & Day Filaria Clinic and Lymphoedema Management clinic of filarial patient.
  1. Apart from this other duty like outbreak investigations etc. being carried out as assigned by NCDC, HQ trs, Delhi.

 

Activities undertaken in the Branch -

  1. Training course on Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) for Medical Officers /Biologists/District Program officers. (Duration -5 Days)
  1. Training course on Filariology for Filaria lnspectors/Health Inspectors/Technicians. (Duration -10 Days)
  1. Vector Surveillance at point of entry for Vectors of Yellow fever, Dengue, Chikungunya and Malaria at international Air ports/Seaports.
  1. Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis (STH) Prevalence study.
  1. IEC and Morbidity Management and Disability prevention (MMDP) program.
  1. Conducting Filaria Day and Night clinics.
  1. Conducting awareness program on Filariasis to new and old patients and explaining preventive measures to patients and care takers.
  1. Phase III field evaluation of DuraNet LLIN against malaria vector mosquitoes.
  1. Cross checking of Micro Filaria blood smears received from different NFCP units.
