Activities undertaken in the division –
- Centre for NCDs was established in February, 2015.
Details of Divisional Activities:
2020-2021
- A project on “Screening of NCDC officers/officials for thyroid disease, in view of higher risk for acquiring COVID-19 infection” and continuation of NIDDCP (National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Program) funded by NCDC, Delhi.
- A study on Clinico-epidemiological profile of the COVID-19 patients admitted in tertiary care hospitals for treatment and management at Delhi.
- Officers of the division are members of committee for the project “PRATAP” (Program for Risky behaviour and Attitude in Trauma Prevention).
Covid-19 response:
- Central Team visits to Maharashtra for review of Covid-19 during second wave and also after Omicron variant detection.
- Multiple inspection visits to Delhi Covid Hospitals for Covid-19 death audit and preparedness.
- Covid-19 periodic surveillance and review for Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh in coordination with IDSP and EPID Divisions.
- Participation in NCDC Public Health Teams.
Risk Communication:
- FM Rainbow live phone in Program on Cancer Awareness by Dr Anshu Sharma on 2nd Feb, 2021.
- Faculty for development of Risk Communication Modules for IEC Officers of States. Also, lecture delivered during pilot regarding the same.
- Lecture regarding NPCDCS Case study from India given on 5th Mar, 2021 in 6th International Course on Public Health Approaches to NCDs organized by World NCD Federation and others.
- Lecture given on 26th Mar, 2021 in Online International Conference on Public Health organized by Navrachana University, Gujarat.
- Speaker for “National Dissemination Workshop: Multi State Formative Assessment findings on NCDs” on 10th Dec, 2021 by PPHF (People to People Health Foundation).
Activities by NCD India EIS Officer:
- Epidemiological investigation of death case of Influenza A (H5), Gurugram, Haryana, 20th July, 2021.
- Oral scientific presentations in Taiwan South East Asia and Western Pacific Bi-regional FETP, Delhi. Also, poster presentation in IAPSMCON.
- Case study pilot test: Investigating a Post-Pandemic Stroke Surge at a Capital City Hospital.
2019-20
- Received Tephinet (International NGO) grant for a study on “Effectiveness of the Information Education Communication (IEC) and counselling in reducing the non-communicable disease risk factors among the hypertensive patients attending NCD clinics, Punjab, India”.
- Field visits to one district per state to assess the system readiness to roll out Population based screening of NCDs in collaboration with NHSRC - Visited Bokaro (Jharkhand), Wardha (Maharashtra) and South District (Tripura).

- BLS and ACLS training arranged for NCDC officials at Anesthesia department, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital.
- World Cancer Day 2019 - Lecture demonstration session on Breast Self-Examination and a talk on Cervical Cancer screening for raising the awareness among its Lady Officers and officials on early detection for risk reduction of cancers.

2015-18
- Projects by EIS officer in NCDs: Study on factors contributing to pre-hospital delay and hospital delay in acute coronary syndrome cases admitted to tertiary care centre (Safdarjang Hospital) - Delhi, October - December 2018.
- Internal review of NPCDCS in the initial 100 districts of Program implementation (2010-11), Nov 2015 - Feb 2016 (Ambala, Darjeeling, Rajkot, Hoshiarpur, Tuticorin, Bokaro, Dibrugarh, Imphal East, Shimoga, and Jaisalmer).
- Convened an expert group meeting for standardization of the Medical Officer training module and developed a training module for MO to roll out PBS for NCD under NPCDCS.
Capacity Building:
- Pretested and finalised the standardised training module for Medical officer to roll out population level screening for NCD under NPCDCS.
- Conducted National Level TOTs for medical officer to roll out Population Level Screening for NCD in 29 states and 4 UTs (148 master trainers trained).
National NCD Monitoring Survey 2017-18
- Centre for NCD, NCDC, Delhi was one of the implementing agency for the NNMS in seven northern states of India namely Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. The survey was done in 52 selected primary sampling units (PSU), Survey started on 23rd Oct, 2017 and Data collection completed on 4th March, 2018.
